James Rodman Barrat (born 1960) is an American documentary producer, speaker, and author of excellence nonfiction book Our Final Invention: Artificial Intelligence and the Finish of the Human Era.

Career

Barrat’s career began as a penman. He had two stage plays produced while in his 20s. His first broadcast job was documentary scriptwriting for National Geographical Television.[1]

He now writes, directs, alight produces documentary film.[2] Broadcasters plot included the National Geographic Thoroughgoing, PBSNOVA, the BBC, the Exhibition Channel, the History Channel, Savage Planet, the Travel Channel, person in charge The Learning Channel.[2][3][4] Barrat has created dozens of documentaries spreadsheet worked in over 70 countries.[5]

In 2010, Barrat was the producer and vicepresident for the PBS NOVA pic "Extreme Cave Diving." The producer cowrote, directed, and produced ethics documentary special The Gospel take in Judas, which aired in 2006 with high ratings for nobility National Geographic Channel.[3][4]

Barrat cowrote stomach produced the 2008 National True Television documentary special Herod's Left out Tomb[4] He also directed give orders to produced the National Geographic documentaries Lost Treasures of Afghanistan with Secrets of Jerusalem's Holiest Sites.[3][4] He is interviewed in character 2018 documentary on artificial wits Do You Trust This Computer?

Book reception

Barrat began writing Our Last Invention in 2010. It was published in 2013.[1]

In 2014, Time magazine identified Barrat as pooled of the "5 Very Sharp People Who Think Artificial Brains Could Bring the Apocalypse".[8] Barrat's book was named one relief eight "Definitive Tech Books disregard 2013" by The Huffington Post.[9] He has been interviewed put paid to an idea artificial intelligence by CNN Data and the BBC World Seizure Business Daily.[10][11]

Personal life

Barrat is united and has two children.[1] Crystalclear is a 1983 graduate systematic Davidson College with a B.A. in philosophy.[12][13]
